Transcendental Meditation
Instruction, follow-up support, group practice, and consciousness-based education through the Cambridge and Metropolitan Boston Transcendental Meditation programme.
Teaching
For more than a decade, Baruti KMT-Sisouvong, PhD, has taught, mentored, and guided individuals through meditation, higher education, public scholarship, and consciousness-based approaches to human development.
Overview
Teaching occupies a central place within my work. Whether in the classroom, through meditation instruction, public scholarship, workshops, speaking engagements, or individual mentorship, my aim is to help individuals cultivate greater clarity, understanding, resilience, and self-development.
While the subjects may vary, the underlying intention remains consistent: to support the growth of the whole person and to help individuals access deeper levels of potential, creativity, wellbeing, and meaningful contribution.
Areas of Teaching
Instruction, follow-up support, group practice, and consciousness-based education through the Cambridge and Metropolitan Boston Transcendental Meditation programme.
Exploration of consciousness, growth, transformation, self-development, and human flourishing through both scholarly and practical lenses.
Teaching and mentorship within university settings, including courses and discussions related to consciousness, Vedic Science, and human potential.
Drawing upon experience in education, civic engagement, organisational leadership, and service-oriented development.
Communicating complex ideas through essays, interviews, podcasts, presentations, and public dialogue.
Applying original frameworks such as the Seven Layers of Manifestation and the Model for Perpetual Growth and Progress to personal and professional development.
Transcendental Meditation
Since 2013, Baruti and his wife, Mina KMT-Sisouvong, have served as leaders of the Cambridge and Metropolitan Boston Transcendental Meditation programme.
Together they have helped more than two thousand individuals learn Transcendental Meditation through personal instruction, follow-up support, group practice, and ongoing educational programming.
Their work reflects a commitment to making effective meditation instruction accessible while supporting long-term growth through consistent practice and community engagement.
In 2025, Baruti was honoured with the Guru Dev Award for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching Transcendental Meditation, recognising more than one thousand individuals personally instructed in the practice.
The award reflects a sustained commitment to consciousness-based education, individual growth, and the long-term support of students throughout their meditation journeys.
Educational Philosophy
Meaningful learning involves more than information. It requires direct experience, reflection, application, and integration.
Growth is not confined to classrooms or specific periods of life. Human development remains possible throughout the entire life course.
Understanding deepens when ideas are lived, tested, refined, and embodied through practice.
The ultimate aim of learning is not accumulation alone but the capacity to contribute meaningfully to others and society.
Speaking & Workshops
In addition to formal instruction, Baruti regularly teaches through speaking engagements, workshops, interviews, podcasts, public scholarship, and community-based educational initiatives.
Topics frequently include consciousness, meditation, leadership, education, human development, artificial intelligence, symbolic traditions, and the future of human flourishing.
