Teaching

Supporting growth through consciousness, education, and practice.

For more than a decade, Baruti KMT-Sisouvong, PhD, has taught, mentored, and guided individuals through meditation, higher education, public scholarship, and consciousness-based approaches to human development.

Overview

Teaching as a pathway of transformation

Teaching occupies a central place within my work. Whether in the classroom, through meditation instruction, public scholarship, workshops, speaking engagements, or individual mentorship, my aim is to help individuals cultivate greater clarity, understanding, resilience, and self-development.

While the subjects may vary, the underlying intention remains consistent: to support the growth of the whole person and to help individuals access deeper levels of potential, creativity, wellbeing, and meaningful contribution.

Transcendental Meditation

More than a decade of meditation instruction

Since 2013, Baruti and his wife, Mina KMT-Sisouvong, have served as leaders of the Cambridge and Metropolitan Boston Transcendental Meditation programme.

Together they have helped more than two thousand individuals learn Transcendental Meditation through personal instruction, follow-up support, group practice, and ongoing educational programming.

Their work reflects a commitment to making effective meditation instruction accessible while supporting long-term growth through consistent practice and community engagement.

Guru Dev Award

In 2025, Baruti was honoured with the Guru Dev Award for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching Transcendental Meditation, recognising more than one thousand individuals personally instructed in the practice.

The award reflects a sustained commitment to consciousness-based education, individual growth, and the long-term support of students throughout their meditation journeys.

Educational Philosophy

Learning as becoming

Experience Matters

Meaningful learning involves more than information. It requires direct experience, reflection, application, and integration.

Development Is Lifelong

Growth is not confined to classrooms or specific periods of life. Human development remains possible throughout the entire life course.

Knowledge and Practice

Understanding deepens when ideas are lived, tested, refined, and embodied through practice.

Service and Contribution

The ultimate aim of learning is not accumulation alone but the capacity to contribute meaningfully to others and society.

Speaking & Workshops

Teaching beyond traditional classrooms

In addition to formal instruction, Baruti regularly teaches through speaking engagements, workshops, interviews, podcasts, public scholarship, and community-based educational initiatives.

Topics frequently include consciousness, meditation, leadership, education, human development, artificial intelligence, symbolic traditions, and the future of human flourishing.
